The AGM provides members with important updates on LSU operations, financials, and governance. It also includes voting on special resolutions and the opportunity to ask questions directly to student leaders.

Special Resolution
WHEREAS:
Langara Students’ Union Association is governed by the LSU elected Board members, providing advocacy, benefits, and services to an average of 11,000 students at Langara College (the “College”); and
WHEREAS
Effective governance depends on streamlined decision-making and clear responsibilities.
AND whereas a smaller board size may enhance focus, reduce redundancy, and improve accountability by relying less on achieving quorum with a smaller board size.
WHEREAS
Meaningful student representation is better achieved through an active, well-supported board members than through a high number of underutilized positions.
AND whereas consolidating roles can lead to more impactful contributions during fluctuations in membership size and volunteering capacity from year to year.
AND whereas maintaining a large board may not be sustainable or in alignment with long-term organizational goals related to training and resource coordination.
AND whereas reducing the board size allows for a more strategic approach to streamline the LSU Board structure, provide meaningful participation, align resources for membership accountability, and support
AND whereas a smaller Langara Students’ Union Board will focus efforts on strategic priorities rather than maintaining an unnecessarily complex structure.
BE IT RESOLVED, AS A SPECIAL RESOLUTION, THAT THE MEMBERSHIP APPROVES THE FOLLOWING AMENDMENT TO THE BYLAWS:
The number of LSU student board positions be reduced from 12 positions to 7 elected positions.
Be it further resolved that the Bylaws are adjusted to accommodate the changes in the new structure.
